Your Over 40 Style Guide

Once upon a time, there was a girl (alright middle aged woman, but who’s counting), who was prone to multitasking. She took pride in her super-powers which allowed her to wash a load of clothes, reply to an email, and talk on the phone, all while riding a unicycle. Clearly not true but a funny visual ~ no?

Those multi-tasking super powers can come at a cost, however. Have you ever stopped to wonder how many moments we’ve been mindfully absent from our own lives? While allowing our minds to wander while doing chores and other tasks, it’s a unicorn of a different color when it comes to spending time with family and friends.

Being present and focused while driving is imperative, and dare I add to that list, walking down the stairs? When we are distracted, we miss out on some of the most beautiful moments life has to offer; sunsets, butterflies, a smile and LIFE itself.

bruised elbow

No lectures intended here, just a cautionary tale of what can happen when we are distracted. I toppled end over end, my phone flying through the air right along with me. In the future, I might have to ask for hazard pay for taking the stairs!

Along the bumpy way, I managed to bruise just about every part of my body, including one very painful rib contusion. Bubble wrap might be a good option for me in the future ~ just saying.

Now let’s talk fashion, shall we?
I was beyond thrilled when I discovered that both the cold shoulder and bell sleeved trends would be making an appearance two chic years in a row!

There’s just something so feminine and flattering about the style, and this fabulous number in a soft blush pink, is all that and a bag of chips, honey! When I wear this blouse, I feel taller (the long bell sleeves help) and demure, insert generous eyelash batting.

Pairing it with white summer slacks and simple nude heels allowed the blouse to be the star of the show. The accessories are as feminine as the blouse itself, with a long filigree necklace and faux pearl drop earrings.
