Over 40 Style Tips

You’ve seen it everywhere this season, the kimono style topper, adding a layer of flowy fun to outfits across the globe.

The temps here in the south have been downright delightful this week, with highs only in the mid 70’s, which is a rare treat this time of year.

Which got me thinking about the kimonos I bought this season. Must we give them up when fall makes it official and arrives? We so no way, Jose, so I rummaged through the closet to pull together a kimono look that will ease into fall like a sailboat gliding into the marina.

With just a few simple edits, this long floral kimono can easily take me from the remaining steamy days of summer right through the colorful days of fall.

In the summer, I pair this navy kimono with an apricot tee shirt, Capri jeans, some strappy sandals and a straw clutch.

The fall version looks something like this:
1. Switched the orangy tee for a cozy, short sleeved cashmere sweater in blush pink.

2. The warm weather Capri jeans were swapped out for the always comfy boyfriend jeans.

3. Ditched the sandals and opted for one of fall’s perfect shoe choices, the peep toe bootie in a warm brown suede.

4. Instead of a summery straw clutch, I went with an over-sized bag in a rich brown tone.
