Belmond Charleston Place

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering if upgrading your room to the Club or Concierge Level is worth the extra bucks, this post is for you!

We’re taking you along on our recent stay at the luxurious Belmond Charleston Place located in historic Charleston, South Carolina.  To celebrate my husband’s birthday, we booked a suite on the Club Level as a special birthday treat and to see if the Club Level experience would be worth the extra money.

On average, a Club Level suite in a U.S. luxury hotel will cost you an additional $60.00 – $170.00 per room/night, depending upon the hotel.  When you factor in the bounty of complimentary food, snacks and drinks, plus a superior room, the benefits often far outweigh the cost and can actually save you money!

Here’s a peek into the endless trays of expertly prepared food we enjoyed from morning until night, all complimentary on the Club Level.

Perk ~ if you arrive at Charleston Place before your Club Level suite is ready, you are allowed access to the Club Level floors, to enjoy all the amenities while you wait in splendidly decorated comfort for your suite.

Breakfast sweets and rolls

We strolled between beautiful breakfast pastry trays, yogurts, cereals and a variety of fresh fruits, crispy bacon, quiche and the most amazing raisin French toast ever! The coffee and tea bar had a little something for everyone, along with pitchers of chilled fruit juices.

If you care to begin your day with an adult beverage, beer and wine are available all day, until the bar closes for the evening.

Our appetizer choices ranged from sushi to yummy hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, with a full and open bar (after 5:00 p.m., wine and beer served all day/night).

The dessert bar and I became very well acquainted during our unforgettable stay at Charleston Place. These were just a few of the wide array of delectable sweets we devoured after a dinner out on the town.

Here’s another inside travel tip, feel free to tell the hotel staff if you are celebrating a special event. I was asked while making my reservation if it was a special occasion and five minutes into our arrival, we were surprised with this thoughtful gift from the hotel, in honor of my hubby’s birthday.

A big YES and no, depending upon your plans. If you will be out enjoying the sights and touring the city, spending little time in the hotel, then you might want to skip the Club Level upgrade. Although if you love a beautiful room and view, it’s worth the money.

Our suite was spacious, elegantly appointed with marble topped furniture and hard wood pieces and had an enviable view.

We split our time, taking advantage of the complimentary breakfast, then hitting the cobblestone streets of Charleston to explore.  We strolled back to the hotel in the afternoon for tea sandwiches, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails before we left for dinner.  Our evening ended on the Club Level once again with cocktails and endless decadent desserts.

After our memorable, relaxing stay, we added up the cost and not only did we come out money ahead by staying on the Club Level, our luxury experience was elevated to another level of superior customer service and care.

Is a Club Level stay worth the money?  In our experience, every single penny!

Thank you for stopping by our cyber home, we appreciate your visits.  Until next time darlings, live, love and travel!

Oh me too! It’s my favorite city in SC. The next time you go to Charleston, you should indeed stay at Charleston Place. Maybe we could meet up for a fashion shoot on the historic streets! Xo Jonet
