The travel plans are all set and your bedroom looks like your closet just exploded, clothing, shoes and baubles are scattered about everywhere. And you, my friend, have a monumental, colossal decision to make as you try to determine what to cram into that suitcase?

You and I both know, this whole packing thing is not to be taken lightly! Forget an important piece of clothing and risk turning into Anxiety Woman on the plane, (able to cry or freak out at a moment’s notice) hey, it counts as a super power!

So what’s one of the most essential pieces that deserves a coveted spot in your limited luggage space? According to travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler, it’s the classic and versatile trench coat and we agree. Here are Three Reasons Trench Coats are THE Travel Essential.

Lightweight & Foldable

Airports are often chilly and airplanes temps can dip below freezing (I exaggerate, but only a smidge). Trench coats are lightweight to carry, yet keep you cozy warm at the same time. It can be easily rolled up and placed inside your carry-on luggage, or used as a chic blanket once you’re safely tucked away in your

Water Resistant

If there’s one thing you can count on about the weather, it can be moody and go from sunny to rain, wind or snow flurries in the blink of an eye. The last thing I want to do when packing for a trip is to add an umbrella to my already bulging, probably over the weight limit bag. That’s where my hooded trench coat comes in to save the day and my hairdo by repelling water like a a freshly waxed

Classic Style

You know you’re in fine company when 60’s style icons like Audrey Hepburn, Catherine Deneauve and Brigitte Bardot just might have had a hand in pioneering the the trench coat love affair that is still going strong today. Dress them up by draping a maxi trench coat over your favorite LBD, toss one over your shoulders with a pair of slacks and sweater, or top a pair of jeans, a scarf and your favorite boots with a little timeless chic style.Affiliate Disclaimer

I am a woman in my 60’s. I love fashion. Not many blogs for my age. Do you think your style is appropriate for my age. I love your fashion.

Hi Judy and a big welcome to our FCO50 tribe! Thanks for your comment and great question! I’ll give you the short answer. It depends on your height, etc. If you are short and petite like me, then absolutely. If you are taller than 5’2″ you’ll have even more options available to you because you can wear longer capes and sweaters.

One of my favorite trends right now are over-sized sweaters and tops, because they camouflage our mommy tummies fabulously! Pair them with a pair of winter leggings, a cute pair of boots and you are good to go 60+ too! Hope that helps. Happy Thanksgiving.
