Over 40 Style Guide
If I had to pick, I’d say Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love the frosty weather, festive twinkling lights and the unmistakable scent of a freshly cut Christmas tree. We honor generations of family favorite holiday recipes and gather together with cherished family and friends.
One of my favorite childhood Christmas memories involved an under shirt, pair of siscors and roaring laughter. Not what you were expecting right? You see, I’ve always been the family practical joker, even as a kid. So one Christmas, I asked my dad for one of his tee shirts, the kind men wear under their dress shirts. My dad wore a medium at the time and my grandpa wore an xx-large.
I took a pair of scissors and spent hours cutting perfectly round holes of different sizes all over Dad’s tee. Then I wrapped it, topped it with a bright red bow and proudly stashed my gift under the tree with “Grandpa” written on the tag.
I could hardly wait for Christmas morning that year. As we all gathered around the tree, my dad handed out gifts, as is the Gleason family tradition. My heart was pounding in my chest, as he finally reached around the back of the tree and passed the box to my grandpa, adding, “this one’s from Jonet”.
Grandpa smiled and gave me that, aren’t you the sweetest granddaughter on the planet look, and I couldn’t help but start to giggle. It seemed to take forever for Grandpa to rip open that box.
He unfolded his holy gift and held it up for the rest of the family to see, light flooding through every hole I’d carefully cut, his hearty laugh and amusement, so delighted me. To my utter joy, he took off his pajama shirt and squeezed into my dad’s medium tee, the seams bursting in a few places as he pulled it down to his belly button (which was as far down as it would go).
We were all in tears, laughter filling the room like a joyful symphony. My grandpa was such a trooper, a Naval man of very few words, I’m pretty sure my gift was his favorite that year.

Now let’s talk fashion, shall we?
I’m head over heels in love with this LEATHER MOTO JACKET by Tahari, the sheepskin leather so buttery soft. The detailing is sleek and chic with a gleaming front zipper, zippers on the sleeves and handy pockets, as well as cool buckles on the sides. This is a quality leather jacket that I’ll wear for years to come. Available in four fabulous colors, in sizes x-small to x-large, it’s even ON SALE NOW!
I’m thinking of pairing it with a holy men’s tee shirt in medium instead of this red cashmere sweater… your thoughts?
