Over 40 Rainy Day Styling Tips

It’s been a strange and scary month in the United States with two whopper storms ravaging our former Home state of Texas and now Hurricane Irma reeking havoc on Florida, Georgia and the coast of South Carolina.

These types of natural disasters are heartbreaking to watch, as the winds and rain leave us helpless to stop their destruction.

I’m feeling both extremely blessed and melancholy as I write this post. I have great friends in Texas, trying to restore their lives in the midst of the flooding and devastation.

I also have beloved family scattered throughout Florida. My sister, her family and two dogs made it safely to our home in South Carolina from Florida a day before Irma unleashed her fury.

We were blessed to weather the storm together as a family, in the safety of our home. We had five adults, two teens, five dogs and it was such a blessing to be together during this scary time. All the dogs miraculously became buddies and a clan as they joyfully ran laps around our backyard.

We cooked huge family meals, held our breath as we watched Irma make landfall live on tv, and made backup plans for my sister and her family.

My sister, Stacy and I decided to take a break from watching the storm coverage and put together our version of a hurricane survival outfit.

One of the first priorities for Stacy and I, was to return to our childhood and we did our best to jump in every rain puddle we encountered during our photo shoot.

We started with a fabulous and extremely waterproof pair of
Hunter Boots (waterlogged tootsies are no fun). We jumped on the Athleisure trend and added a pair of super comfy, cool and affordable athletic leggings.

We layered an always in-style long plaid shirt, perfect for the fall/winter season over the leggings. Then, since Irma brought us some wind and rain in South Carolina, added my favorite multi purpose, lightweight reversible raincoat with hood and one of the prettiest umbrellas we’d ever laid eyes upon (seriously, it’s gorgeous!!!!).

Thanks so much, my friend. My sister and her family arrived safely back home in Florida. They were very fortunate and thankfully had no damage to their home. We are hoping they restore power very soon. Thanks so much for your comment. Xo Jonet
