JACQUI ~ UNITED KINGDOM
AGE ~ 52
Meet Jacqui, the fashion blogger from Kent England who shares style inspiration and some tips on picking clothes that slim the figure.
Being such a heavy jersey it held me in the right places without feeling too restricted. The layer effect had a very flattering appearance, streamlining the whole look to make me seem slimmer. The lace shrug gave just enough coverage to my arms without making me feel too hot – a classic symptom I’m suffering with atm – lol.
I teamed with black patent court shoes from Nine West and clutch from Red Herring at Debenhams, so not to take the eyes off this delectable dress that I felt a million dollars in. Purchased from House of Fraser this was an Adrianna Papell, worth every penny, I hope you agree.
FCO50: How would you describe your personal style?
JACQUI: My personal style would be best described as classic, with a touch of up-to-date fashion. I feel more confident in something flattering to my figure which looks elegant and stylish. I would say most of the time I dress in a lady-like fashion, something along the lines of Audrey Hepburn crossed with Jane McDonald.
FCO50: You wear some fabulous dresses and skirts. How do you feel about denim jeans?
JACQUI: I do wear jeans at times, obviously styled in a chic way.
FCO50: What’s your favorite fashion piece?
JACQUI: My favorite item, without a doubt has to be my Florence and Fred Lace pencil skirt. A delicate, lace skirt, fitting just below the knee with a gorgeous gold zip on the back. I know I’ll get endless wears from this elegant skirt.
FCO50: If you have an area to camouflage, can you share your tips?
JACQUI: I tend to wear leggings with a longer line jumper or tunic, mainly for a casual look. Something that covers my behind – I’m not a fan of mine, lol.
I also love to wear skinny jeans, as they hold me in more, I like to wear either a long line shirt/tunic/jumper over the top, as well as a shorter blouse or cardigan with them.
FCO50: What styles are currently popular in the U.K.?
JACQUI: I’d have to say popular now are the cold-shoulder tops/dresses. However, I’m not a fan of them, and everyone I’ve put on looks awful on me. I think my shoulders are too wide to carry this style off.
Can I also add Ruffles are everywhere at the moment, and I’m loving them. I’ve just bought a super cute white blouse that will get plenty of outings for sure.
FCO50: Are you an accessory girl?
JACQUI: I love scarves, they are great to add detail, texture and interest to outfits. They are perfect for covering necks that are showing signs of age too! Oh and the obvious answer to keep warm!
FCO50: Do you have a go-to casual style?
JACQUI: My favourite casual look has to be skinny jeans with a layered shirt and jumper, with cute booties and not forgetting a matching scarf too.
FCO50: Is there one beauty product you can’t live without?
JACQUI: Could not, would not live without my LIPPY! I always have a least one in all of my bags! All different colours and mostly all longer lasting. My friends have made it a bit of a standing joke that I’m always putting my lipstick on! They have now followed suit and join me when I do – lol.
Fashion Tip for camouflaging areas of the body: “I tend to wear leggings with a longer line jumper or tunic, mainly for a casual look. Something that covers my behind.” Jacqui
Today we are taking a trip to the lovely town of Kent, England, to visit our new friend Jacqui, who knows how to rock a dress and skirt!
Jacqui prefers a lady-like style, choosing bold colors and fabulous print dresses. As for accessories, Jacqui loves a beautiful scarf to pull her looks together.
This is a lady with a full life, homemaker, mum of 5, plus two fur babies! She loves travel, gardening and keeping her finger on the pulse of the latest fashion trends. And now, you can add blogger to her busy schedule!
To me, age is just a number – I know it’s a bit cliché, but so true. I don’t feel this age inside, although my body sometimes reminds me I am!
I’m fairly new to blogging, having spent years of being a homemaker and bringing up five children and two dogs. Thinking I was only a mum and wife left me with a realization I needed to do something for myself – that didn’t interfere with my home life but gave ME a purpose.
I’m throwing myself into a world that, quite frankly, I love. So far all the fellow bloggers have been amazing, informative and supportive. It’s lovely to find and read new blogs from similar minded, not necessairly similar aged ladies, but all with the same thing in common – we love fashion and blogging about it! I get so many ideas from reading blogs, searching pinterest and watching Instagram.
I love eating out, holidays in Italy, keeping fit by way of dancing, running and gym classes. I also love gardening rather than housework or cooking, although I can cook quite well, so long as it’s accompanied by a glass of wine or prosecco!

If there’s two thing we’ve learned from our She’s Got Style series, it’s that women have a universal interest in fashion. Our global fashionistas embrace being over 40 and it shows in every outfit they wear. Bravo ladies!
Until our next fashion trip, enjoy your own fashion journey, darlings.
