travel the world

Have you ever wondered if fashion is universal? Do women over 40 follow the same trends, or does style change depending upon the country?

We were curious too, which is why we started our global fashion series, She’s Got Style, last September. We’ve “traveled” together as a tribe from the United States, to Poland and many countries in between. Along the way, we’ve met the most amazing women who have shared style tips as well as oodles of photos that will inspire and bring out the inner fashionista in all of us.

Some are Image Consultants and others, women with an exceptional eye for statement-making ensembles. We thought we’d share some of the best fashion tips our She’s Got Style fashionistas have shared in our interviews. There’s a little something for every women, every size.

Hope you packed an overnight bag, darlings. We’re about to visit five countries in one blog post!

She was kind enough to put together her Fashion Must Have List.

♦ RENATA’S TOP 7 MUST HAVE LIST ♦

White shirt ~ A timeless classic. It matches with everything i.e. jeans, elegant pants, a pencil skirt or a jeans skirt. It makes the whole look, depending on what I mix it with and what accessories I add.

V-neck t-shirts ~ T-shirts are very important in my closet. I put them under a cardigan or a jacket. My favorite colors are: white, navy blue and striped, also the combination of white and navy blue.

Jeans ~ I love these pants, and I try to choose soft jeans because they are nicer to wear. If I want to look more elegant, I choose straight and dark navy blue jeans. For everyday use, I choose blue jeans and I like to combine them with a t-shirt and a cardigan or a jacket.

Chinos ~ I love them for their comfort and because I feel elegant in them and yet casual at the same time. They are perfect for me for a smart casual look. I have a weakness for navy blue chinos.

Dress ~ My favorite piece of clothing. I just love it, because I just open my closet, take it out and I have the perfect outfit. My favorite is a wrap dress. It nicely emphasizes the silhouette and at the same time is not tight, and I feel comfy in such a dress.

Jacket ~ I like wearing layers because I prefer to take something off when I am too warm than to be cold. As a basic I choose a jacket in white, navy blue or striped.

Cardigan ~ I love all the sweaters. A cardigan has a similar role as a jacket, but it’s less formal. It keeps me warm and it fits under every coat. I mostly wear it unbuttoned.

Scarf/shawl ~ This piece of clothing works miracles, and is able to spice up every outfit and/or sometimes it’s the central point of an outfit. Besides, it’s enough to change a scarf/shawl and it completely changes the same outfit.

We also took a cyber trip to the Land Down Under, to meet the boho chic and uber stylish Sharryn Morris-Claire. Sharryn has created her own signature style, and it’s utterly unforgettable.

Sharryn’s cool style was recently featured in SheSpark Magazine as one of our She’s Got Style fashionistas. You can see it HERE.

Sharryn lives in Melbourne, Australia which by no co-incidence is the fashion capital of her country. She tells us, “It is riddled with our own wonderful designers and unique boutiques all selling their own different and unusual clothes. I love being in Melbourne as the unpredictable climate provides lots of opportunities to explore different looks and try out seasonal collections. What a great excuse to dress up each day.”

I want to be bold and I ‘dare to be different’ every day. Sharryn

STYLING TIPS FOR WOMEN WITH LARGE BREASTS & PETITES

over 50 woman in skirt with hat

We “visited” She’s Got Style fashionista Susanne Niermann, who embraces a sporty, feminine, comfy style. She lives in Germany and owns an image consulting company.

TIPS FOR WOMEN WITH LARGE BREASTS
Susanne offer this styling tip for women with large breasts, “If you have big breasts, it’s better not to wear necklines which carry high. Lengthen the line of neck. High carried necklines make the breasts appear to fall low.”

She adds, “Darker, muted colors have the effect of conceal and try to shift your waistline a bit lower, so you get more space between your breast and waist.”

TIPS FOR THE PETITE WOMAN
For the petite woman, Susanne suggests, “Consistent color lines stretch the silhouette. So if you are not so tall, avoid breaks in the silhouette.”

My monochromatic outfits are not boring, I love a break in style, because I am a lively women and like the surprise. Susanne Niermann

MICHELE CLARK
BARGAIN FASHION SHOPPING TIPS FROM AN EXPERT

To get some money saving fashion tips, we visited the beautiful New Jersey She’s Got Style fashionista, Michele Clark. Michele’s favorite fashion looks run monochromatic black or bright, sunny colors that resemble her joyful personality (our words, not hers).

Michele tells us, “I truly love thrifting and always thrift high-end fashion and accessories. Sometimes I find things at Target and my local Goodwill stores. It may sound crazy, but all my looks are thrifted. It doesn’t have to cost a fortune to look chic.”

Michele was kind enough to share some of her bargain hunting tips with us, “I definitely follow the trends so that when I go to thrift shops, I’m going with a true purpose and always know what I’m looking for. I never go just to look around, I go with a color of something I need in a jacket or pants in mind. I think about what is missing in my closet for the season and the color trend for fall.”

I’m always on the hunt for classic vintage pieces that never go out of style that I can incorporate into my wardrobe. Michele
